I thought about having this (usually exceedingly boring) first post centre around the same corny opening line I have featured in every blog I've posted since my very first (due to literally some demand I will be blogging about my trip to X... there, I got it in!), but this time there is actually something worthwhile to mention!
Thanks to China hating google, I won't actually be able to access this site over there. This left me with a few options:
1) Choose another website to blog on. Not only is that unloyal (illoyal? Not loyal? Whatever), but I was distressed by the thought of not having my blogs share similar addresses any more (the others are http://ciwtravelperu.blogspot.co.uk, http://ciwtravelvietnam.blogspot.co.uk, and http://ciwtravelmadagascar.blogspot.co.uk. Talk about smooth transition into self advertisement... not that I get money for this...). Clearly this option is out
2) Post up the whole blog when I get back. No.
3) Don't blog at all. Also no.
4) Get the queen of organisation, aka my sister Vicky, to be my blog poster. You may think that "queen of organisation" sounds like an exaggeration, but this is a girl who, when planning city breaks makes an initial list of EVERYTHING YOU CAN POSSIBLY DO THERE, then narrows it down to things she actually might want to do, then researches the time it takes to do each thing, ease of getting there, distance between it and other promising activities, and from that formulates a final (and inviolable) list. I'm hoping these sort of skills will come in handy when she takes my posts and posts them up for me; as you have probably gathered by now this is the option I went for! Who knows, she might even add some amusing editor comments...
